  • Pikeville Poetry Slam - Pikeville Poetry is BACK in 2024! Grab the mic and speak life into your poetry and prose. Come to write, read, share, or listen—participate at your comfort level. Thursday, February 1st starting at 6 p.m. at Appcycled.

  • Swiftie Trivia - Join Appcycled for Swiftie Trivia before The Mountain Grrl Experience’s the Songs of Taylor Swift! Trivia starts at 5:00 p.m. at Appcycled!

  • Mountain Grrl Version: The Songs of Taylor Swift - Are you in your Mountain Grrl era? Join us at The App on February 9 for a one night only event! $10 at the door!

  • Love Your Downtown - Discover what it means to Love Local at this Main Street event! On February 10th, starting at 12 p.m. come downtown for some local shopping, dining, photo ops, wine tasting, & much more! Pikeville Main Street would LOVE to see you there!

  • Valentine Cookie Decorating - This program will be held Tuesday, February 13th at 5:00 at the Pike County (Lee Avenue) Public Library. All materials provided. For ages 14+. Registration required.

  • Be Mine Forever…and Ever: Murder Mystery Dinner - Join us on February 14th, Valentines Day for a murder mystery dinner. They say, "till death do us part" and these characters mean it. Join the twisted love couples, triangles, squares, and pentagrams as they share in this momentous day of love, trust, and. . . murrrdeerrrrrr. Dinner begins at 6:30 at The Appalachian Center for the Arts. Click the link to buy your tickets!

  • Spirits of Pikeville Past - Commissioned by the City of Pikeville and written by Kentucky playwrights, these six Chautauqua-style scripts feature eight people whose lives influenced the town’s history: the man who started the first school in Pikeville, the first woman from Kentucky elected to the United States Congress, an African-American poet and her wealthy white patron, two impactful educational administrators, the man whose aeronautical school trained Allied pilots during World War II, and the mayor responsible for the Pikeville Cut-Thru, arguably part of the most incredible downtown revitalization project ever undertaken in the United States. This is a free ticketed event that will take place on the 16th & 17th at 7:30 p.m. at The Appalachian Center for the Arts.

  • No Limits Monster Truck & Thrill Show - Six top name monster trucks, monster truck rides, local tuff truck drivers & more! Check out this thrilling show at The Appalachian Wireless Arena, on February 16th at 7:00 p.m. & on the 17th at 1:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m.

  • Riley Green: Ain’t My Last Rodeo Tour - Riley Green’s Ain’t My Last Rodeo Tour with Tracy Lawrence and Ella Langley Music is coming to The Appalachian Wireless Arena on February 22nd at 7:30 p.m.

  • Shelly Belly Comedy - Michelle began her comedy career performing standup comedy on stages across the Southeast, she then gained attention in the comedy world after releasing comedy skits online as shellybellycomedy. She will be at The Appalachian Center for the Arts on February 24th at 8:00 p.m.

Outdoor Workout Equipment on the Peach Orchard Trail

The City of Pikeville is pleased to announce the installation of outdoor fitness equipment along the popular Peach Orchard Trail. This initiative aims to promote health and wellness within the community, providing residents and visitors with an exciting opportunity to engage in outdoor fitness activities.
The Peach Orchard Trail, known for its scenic beauty and accessibility, has long been an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. With the addition of outdoor fitness equipment, the trail will now offer individuals of all ages and fitness levels the chance to incorporate physical activity into their outdoor experience.
The newly installed fitness equipment is designed to encourage strength training, flexibility, and balance. It includes a range of equipment such as leg press, lat pull, pull-up bars, sit up station, and stretching stations to name a few. This diverse selection ensures that individuals with varying fitness goals and abilities can find suitable options to enhance their workout routines.
The introduction of outdoor fitness equipment on the Peach Orchard Trail aligns with Pikevilles commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and creating engaging outdoor spaces. By offering accessible fitness equipment in a natural setting, the city hopes to aid individuals to stay active, improve their overall well-being, and enjoy the benefits of exercising in the great outdoors.

  • Creative Play (Ages 5-8) - FEB 12TH – MAR 15TH, 2024 | $100 FOR SEMESTER. MONDAYS FROM 4:15 – 5:00 PM INSTRUCTORS: SHANNON DANIELS | T.A. – JOHN CODE. PERFORMANCE: MARCH 15TH, 2024, @ 7:30-9:00 P.M.

    Get ready animals! Each week, students will develop their beginning acting skills as they explore improvisation techniques, creative theatre games and crafts based on the popular children’s book “Giraffes Can’t Dance”. We’ll work on topics such as listening, movement, imagination, and more!

  • Creative Movement - New Works (Ages 9-12) - FEB 12TH – MAR 15TH. 2024 | $100 FOR SEMESTER MONDAYS & WEDNESDAYS FROM 4:30-6:00 PM INSTRUCTORS: T.A. – DEREK HESS

    A class for our younger students! This class is designed to get young actors on their feet and explore the vast nature of acting by way of performing a new cyberbullying play. This includes the physical lives of a character, animal work, learning how to memorize and perform a small script, and much more. Sign up today to get a head start on the next generation of actors and performers. There will be a final performance at the end of the class to showcase training received during this class.     Are you between the ages of 13-18? Do you yearn for a fuller life, more friends, and a new confidence? Can you have fun? Answering “yes” to any of these questions means the Improv For Teens class is right for you! In this class, we will cover the elements of “Yes, and”, creating an environment, building relationships, and more.   • Adult Acting & Audition (ages 18+) - FEB 15TH – MAR 15TH, 2024 | $100 FOR SEMESTER THURSDAYS FROM 5:15-6:30 PM INSTRUCTOR:  CROCKETT J. WARD PERFORMANCE: MARCH 15TH, 2024, @ 7:30-9:00 P.M.

    Adults of all ages, hear ye, hear ye! Have you ever thought about becoming an actor? Or are you already neck deep in Beckett searching for Godot? Either way, this class is right for you. For beginners and veterans, alike, this class is focused on honing the abilities of adult actors and giving valuable feedback on the different types of auditions you might face in the professional world. There will be a community performance at the end of the session to showcase the training received during this class.   • Musical Theatre (Ages 12+) - FEB 12TH – MAR 15TH, 2024 | $100 FOR SEMESTER. MONDAYS FROM 6:15-7:30 P.M. INSTRUCTORS: AMETHYST AND MARCUS. PERFORMANCE: MARCH 15TH, 2024, @ 7:30-9:00 P.M.

    Learn to hone your abilities as a true triple threat: singing, acting, and dancing! This five-week course for teens and adults ages 12 and up will give every performer a moment in the spotlight while helping them unite into a powerful and cohesive chorus. Learn to blend into an ensemble without fading into the background. Each week, you’ll be asked to bring your A-game and be ready to move. Please wear movable clothes. Bring a pencil, highlighter, water bottle, and shoes you can move in. A script/sheet music will be provided to you. For the first class, please come prepared to sing a 30-second cut of any song that showcases your vocal ability.     Being a teenager is hard; learning how to act shouldn’t be. Come join the Teen Acting class to get a better understanding on how to own the stage and the world around you. This class is going to cover a number of monologues and scenes in preparation for a community performance at the end of the class session. Enrollment in this class guarantees ONE FREE ADMISSION to one show at The App per session.

  • Adult Improv (Ages 18+) - FEB 15TH – MAR 15TH, 2024 | $100 FOR SEMESTER. THURSDAYS FROM 6:45-8:00 PM INSTRUCTOR: CROCKETT J. WARD. PERFORMANCE: MARCH 15TH, 2024, @ 7:30-9:00 P.M.

    Come live, laugh, and learn. You might have seen The Peachbombs & The Country Bumpkins perform last year. Join the Country Bumpkins and get ready to play! This class is dedicated to the foundations of improv set out by Del Close from The Second City in Chicago. “Yea, and”, Never No, and a host of other key points will be covered over this ten-week process. Enrollment in this class guarantees ONE FREE ADMISSION to one show at The App per session.

  • Teen Combat (Ages 14-18) - FEB 13TH – MAR 15TH, 2024 | $100 FOR SEMESTER. TUESDAYS FROM 7:30-8:30 PM. INSTRUCTORS: CROCKETT J. WARD, T.A. & AMETHYST DAWN. PERFORMANCE: MARCH 15TH, 2024, @ 7:30-9:00 P.M.

    You wanted it, you got it! Calling all teens that love to (fake) fight! This class is dedicated to learning how to perform an unarmed fight with safety, effectiveness, and efficiency. No previous training required. There will be a community performance at the end of the session to showcase the training received in this class. Enrollment in this class guarantees ONE FREE ADMISSION to one show at The App per session

  • Adult Stage Combat - Unarmed (Ages 18+) - FEB 15TH – MAR 15TH, 2024 | $100 FOR SEMESTER. THURSDAYS FROM 8:15-9:30 PM INSTRUCTOR: CROCKETT J. WARD. PERFORMANCE: MARCH 15TH, 2024, @ 7:30-9:00 P.M.

    Do you want to beat up your friends (on stage)? Well, do I have a class for you?! Stage Combat is for all adults of any shape, size, and background. In this class, we are focused on safety and story-telling through the use of violence, mayhem, and (fake) bloodshed. We will be focused on hand-to-hand fights for this session. No previous training required. There will be a community performance at the end of the session to showcase the training received in this class. Enrollment in this class guarantees ONE FREE ADMISSION to one show at The App per session.

A Hillbilly Days Extravaganza

One of the main highlights of Hillbilly Days is the lively parade that will take place Saturday, April 20 at 2:00PM.  Shriner’s Hillbilly Jalopies, floats, marching bands, and costumed participants weave through Hambley Boulevard in downtown Pikeville, creating a spectacle of color and music.  The Hillbilly Days Parade is a vibrant and spirited celebration of Appalachian culture, offering a unique and enriching experience for all who attend.  From its colorful displays of tradition to its philanthropic endeavors, the parade serves as a testament to the resilience and unity of the community.
